We offer for your consideration this vintage Fairbanks Beam Scale (4lbs). This scale can be dated to around 1925/28.
It carries the California seal of the Dept. Of Weights and Measures" with the name of "Chas.M Fuller who was the. "Sealer of Weights & Measures" for the city of Los Angeles in 1928. This Fairbanks scale is made primarily of cast iron, the beam and weight look to be brass, and the tray looks to be steel sheet metal. The weight range is maximum 4 pounds. The base is a radiused diamond shape approximately 7 x 4 inches.
The beam arm is approximately 11 inches. The tray is approximately 8 x 7.125 inches. This scale weighs approximately 7 pounds. The only issue we can see is that the tray has been a bit bit deformed, bending slightly down at the lipped edges. Fairbanks started making industrial and mercantile scales way back in 1830, and they are still in the business today. If you are a collector of antique/vintage mercantile equipment.
