Rare 39 Tall Antique Balance Gold Scale Dated 1874 Signed JWR Brass & Cast Iron

All photographs are part of the description. Here is an old scale measuring 39-5/8 inches tall, and 44 inches wide with the pans. The base is 10-1/2 inches square. The paint appears to be original including the gold pin striping. The brass parts are in good condition. One of the ornate curls on the top of the pedestal was broken off and repaired. It is visible in the photos. When the crossbar is set in place, the needle extends down to the brass plate on the pillar where it calibrates the weight.

The handle on the bottom locks the pans. The brass plate with the weight marks on it is signed, J. In the upper left corner is dated 1874 1874 in the upper right.
