Vintage Antique Cast Iron Beam Sliding Scale, PS & W Co, 47 L, 320 lbs, 1800s
This is a 47-in long vintage antique cast iron beam sliding scale by P. ", as marked along with "Reg. On one side of the scale is marked from 0 to 80 and 20 to 320 on the other side. Cast iron steel has turned completely black due to age with a few rusts on the two attached hooks. It is believed from the late 1800s. The origin of P S & W Co (The Peck, Stow & Wilcox) was dated back to 1797 when Seth Peck, of Southington, Conn. Commenced the manufacture of Tinsmiths' Machines, Seth Peck & Co. By 1870 Seth Peck & Co. Of Plantsville and the Roys & Wilcox Co, forming P S & W Co. It was the town's largest industrial employer of the late 19th century, producing a diversified array of tools. The Company also had an operation in Cleveland, OH. In excellent shape and condition, with some signs of age including patinas/rusts on/near the hooks.
